Letter to Our New Neighbors

To Our New Casa View Neighbors,

My wife, Jenn, and I are so, so excited to have joined your community in January.  As you might have recently heard, we have openedour Stone’s Ace Hardware store in the growing and changing Casa View Shopping Center earlier this year.  We wanted to take just a few moments of your time both to introduce ourselves and to hopefully begin an ongoing conversation between you and us.  We could not be more excited to join your growing community and want nothing more than to be an integral part of it.

Jenn and I have been rooted in Dallas for the better part of the past two decades.  We have spent more than half of that time in academics, working as professors at El Centro College and other institutions in the area.  While we have valued our time in the classroom, and we have been able to see our impact on the Dallas community through the success of our students, we have found that our interests and passions extend beyond the classroom, and we would like to serve the community in a different way.

My family has been in the hardware business in the Permian Basin for more than forty years, and as I have grown older I have been able to see how those stores have become the lifeblood of their communities in ways big and small.  At its core, this is what drives Jenn and I to begin this adventure in Casa View.  More than the location itself, however, in short you are the reason that we want to open here.  We had originally been looking at another location for our business, but when we were exposed to the Casa View neighborhood and the vocal advocates for this part of Dallas, we were blown away with the passion and spirit of camaraderie, and after that there was never a doubt that this was exactly the place for us.  In the beginning of our journey, we were not sure how we could make things work, but we knew that this was where we wanted to be.  Now that it is a reality, we are thrilled beyond words at our good fortune to be a part of your community.

We can’t wait to meet with you all in person to find out what you think you might want or need from our store.  At its core, our store is about serving our community, and so we want to know what those needs are specifically.  If any of you have time for a coffee or beer, it would be great to hear more about you and the community that we are entering.  We just want to get to know you and the neighborhood as best we can, so that we can understand how we might best fit into the landscape here.

We are so excited and cannot wait to see this all unfold.
